Joshua Benevento

As a graduate of Purchase College Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor of Music and Masters of Music, Joshua Benevento brings a well trained and exceptional tenor voice to the classical music world.

He has successfully sung Tamino in Die Zauberflöte, Don Jose in La tragédie de Carmen, Lucano in L’incoronazione di Poppea, Camille de Rosillon in The Merry Widow, King Kaspar in Amahl and the Night Visitors, The Witch in Hänsel und Gretel, Caliban in The Tempest, and as the Uncle in the world premiere production of Raphaël Lucas's Confession.

In 2007 he won first place in the Lieder Division of the Liederkranz Foundation Competition which included a winners recital at Carnegie Hall, NYC.

Joshua Benevento can be heard singing the role of Caliban on Albany Record's CD of Lee Hoiby's The Tempest.

"As Caliban, the island native enslaved by Prospero, Joshua Benevento manages to sputter and seethe without ever coming off his vibrant tenor voice. He also gets to deliver the wonderfully incantatory Act III aria, "Be not afeard," which has the feel of a modern classic." - Opera News
